You’ve got to respect hard work and initiative, and Chanel West Coast — real name Chelsea “Chanel” Dudley — demonstrates just what is possible when you persevere in chasing your dreams. From MTV reality television to music and fashion, this versatile lifestyle entrepreneur has several high-profile projects on the go.

Television

The name Chanel West Coast first came to the public’s attention when Chanel debuted on MTV television as the receptionist on Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory. This show continued for four seasons and maintains close to 5 million likes on Facebook. While the show didn’t quite launch Chanel’s rapping career as she’d hoped, it did lead to a long and fruitful TV relationship with Rob Dyrdek and helped Chanel West Coast’s name to become known.

Chanel Broadens Her Horizons

In 2011, as the fourth season of Fantasy Factory was aired, Chanel West Coast’s name moved into acting with the role of Sheila in a 2011 episode of The Hard Times of RJ Berger. The following year, she branched out into voice, playing Flipz in the animated series Wild Grinders, which aired on the Nickelodeon channel from 2012 to 2015.

The Endearing Laugh that Became Famous Across America

Eventually, Chanel’s long-term friendship and screen chemistry with Rob Dyrdek led the pair to star together in their ultimate TV success story — the comedy clip show Ridiculousness, which has been running since 2011 and now boasts nearly 12 million followers on Facebook. If you’re one of the 10+ million Americans that watch this show, you're sure to be familiar with Chanel's fun-loving personality and highly contagious laugh!

Music

Chanel West Coast’s name is known by many thanks to her ongoing role on TV. However, her long-term passion is really her music. Raised between her DJ father in New York City and her mother in North Hollywood, the multi-hyphenate celebrity grew up in the club scene and began rapping at the age of 14.

Young Money

In the early part of Chanel’s music career, she had her big break when she performed her songs for Lil Wayne of Young Money and was subsequently featured on the album The Rise of an Empire. In 2014, Chanel won an award together with Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and the rest of the album’s contributors for Best Group at the 2014 BET Awards.

Continuing with Young Money and the crew, Chanel West Coast’s name became known in the world of rap with two mixtapes: Now You Know in 2013 and Waves in 2015. While continuing her association with Lil Wayne, Chanel went on to produce several releases independently, including Blueberry Chills feat. Honey Cocaine in 2014, Bass in the Trunk in 2015, Nobody in 2018, and New Bae feat. Safaree in 2019.

Chanel Goes Solo

On 23 October 2020, the now completely independent Chanel West Coast finally dropped her first studio album America’s Sweetheart via Equity Distribution, with part of the proceeds going to the REFORM Alliance. At 19 tracks, this album provides almost an hour of sick beats along with new sung numbers, including No Plans and Anchors.

Fashion and Lifestyle Entrepreneur

10 years after Chanel initially entered the public eye, the name Chanel West Coast has now become as closely associated with the Los Angeles celebrity lifestyle as it has with music and reality TV. Beginning with the Valleywood clothing brand in 2009, Chanel cemented her fame as a lifestyle entrepreneur with a second clothing line LOL CARTEL in 2019 and the Chanel West Coast collection of smoking supplies — currently available through the Daily High Club cannabis subscription box company.

For her underage fans, the multi-hyphenate celebrity makes lifestyle accessible with fitness videos and makeup tutorials filmed against the backdrop of her Hollywood home. It’s an inspiring example of what you can achieve when you set your mind to it — a message that Chanel is keen to share with her fans.
