Thisis50 Interview

Chanel with MUA

Did you catch Chanel West Coast’s celebrity interview on ThisIs50? No worries if you missed it. Not only can you check it out on Instagram, but we’re bringing you an in-depth recap that shares all of Chanel’s latest news. Find out what she discussed with Bryson “Boom” Paul, what she’s been up to during quarantine, and what her future plans are. As you’ll see, your “No Plans” fav definitely has some big plans on the horizon. That’s the best part of watching a musician’s interview – discovering what comes next. On that note, here we go.

A New Single

The first thing we learn in Chanel’s celebrity interview with ThisIs50 is that she’s dropping a new single, “Eazy.” In discussing why she chose “Eazy” as the single from her new album, America’s Sweetheart, Chanel talked about how many of her male friends don’t often listen to women rappers. That’s a sad truth, but Chanel is 100% behind her song. She revealed that it’s also important to her to uplift the women who are featured on her songs, Anaya Lovenote and Salma Slims. “Eazy” has no male features. This one is woman-owned.

Just Dance

Everybody knows that Chanel can dance. Most people also know that Boom has a delicate touch with musician interviews. Of course, he had to ask Chanel about her dance moves in her new single and how long it took her to learn the choreography. Chanel touched upon her younger years when dancing was an ultimate passion and admitted that it “takes [her] a little longer to learn dance moves.”

In talking about how young Chanel was when she began dancing, Boom pointed out that she started rapping at an even earlier age. “I was writing poems like since, literally, since I could write. I’ve been obsessed with poetry since I was a little, little girl,” Chanel says, revealing that writing is still a passion.

The Test

In Chanel’s celebrity interview, Boom rightly pointed out that, in spite of her experience with rapping, she is still being tested as an MC. That doesn’t seem to bother her. She maintains that if she hadn’t been born in LA, and even if she didn’t have the opportunities she’s had, she’d still be singing in bars. “It’s my passion, I’m always gonna do it . . . I do it ‘cause I love to,” she says.

Ignore the Hate

As a well-known recording artist always does, Chanel sometimes gets criticism, something that both she and Boom mention on her musician interview. With her level of fame also comes support from other big names, in her corner and hyping her up. With music biz giants like Snoop, Lil Wayne, and the Game in her corner, she’s better able to ignore the negativity. One of Chanel’s biggest goals for 2021 is to achieve a Billboard single. With that kind of support, fans can rightly assume that she’s well on her way to achieving her goal.

On the topic of younger girls and female rap artists who look up to her, Boom asks Chanel how and why she deals with her haters. Chanel admits to snapping back on people who are over the top rude, and confesses that “I’ve literally snapped on a hater before, and they became a fan, and made a fan page for me.” Her advice to girls dealing with the same thing is to realize that haters release their vitriol because they want something that you have.
